State of the World

A poem about the sorry state of the world we live in today, written by Darren Heart.

A poem about the state of the world we live in today, by Darren Heart.
Discrimination, an affirmation,
of moral demonization.
Religion, based on pure speculation,
societies base and foundation.

Our only salvation, mass consumption,
our money, the god now we fear.
To even the score, we just borrow more,
as risk of foreclosure draws near.

Wars fought, without the say of the people,
to protect us from harm and pain.
But I failed to see, the true threat to me;
the dancers that summon the rain.

Corporations, some bigger than planets,
control everything from a-far.
Spend billions on a brand new spy plane,
but tax me for owning a car.

Still waiting to see these crumbs they mention,
to spill off the rich persons plate.
I hope they come soon, as this feeling of doom,
suggests that it may be too late.
