Poem Beyond The Shroud

State of the World

A poem about the sorry state of the world we live in today, written by Darren Heart.

A poem about the state of the world we live in today, by Darren Heart.
Discrimination, an affirmation,
of moral demonization.
Religion, based on pure speculation,
societies base and foundation.

Our only salvation, mass consumption,
our money, the god now we fear.
To even the score, we just borrow more,
as risk of foreclosure draws near.

Wars fought, without the say of the people,
to protect us from harm and pain.
But I failed to see, the true threat to me;
the dancers that summon the rain.

Corporations, some bigger than planets,
control everything from a-far.
Spend billions on a brand new spy plane,
but tax me for owning a car.

Still waiting to see these crumbs they mention,
to spill off the rich persons plate.
I hope they come soon, as this feeling of doom,
suggests that it may be too late.

Poem about Portchester Castle by Millennia Rose

A Poem about Portchester Castle by Millennia Rose (14)

Portchester Castle by Millennia Rose

Distant memories fading,
a tear rolls from my eye.
I'm visiting her favourite place,
I struggle to say good bye.

Covered in rocks and walls too high to reach,
strolling along the shore.
She's in a better place now,
but why did she shut the door?

I detect the smell of freshness,
its reminding me of her.
I have no clue how to handle this,
my mind is such a blur.

She used to come here every day,
hear the birds sing.
It's calm and peaceful all the time,
I feel in control like a king.

I like the way the sun rises,
creates a pretty shade.
I feel as though I was right here,
when this magical place was made.

I guess this is the time mother,
time to say good bye.
You can finally live your dream here now,
spread your wings and fly.

I seize the opportunity to see you,
your ashes on the ground.
You can come to your place everyday,
any time, no stress, no sound.

I could say you inspired me,
you gave me lovely taste.
Thanks to your inspiration,
I know my favourite place.
